And today is a holiday today, too. Now that's almost too good to be true! The sun is trying to shine - do you think it will succeed?
Those folks who chose to attend the Variety Concert on Saturday evening had a real treat. It was a good sized crowd who were very appreciative of the music. It was nice to see friends and neighbours out after the winter and so many cottagers and snowbirds back home for the summer months.
The 50/50 draw paid out $51 - a new record I think - and the canteen was busy all evening.
There are several more shows planned so keep these dates free: June 25, July 30, and August 27 with possibly other dates to be announced. We are greatful to Carroll Edwards and his friends for using our hall as the venue for the summer concerts.
More next week about coming events, happenings at the hall and how you can book your event and hold it here.
Bye for now!!

Saturday May 21 Variety Concert at Fundy View, Hall's Harbour
It's the first long weekend of the summer season, and although it may still be cool and damp, everyone is hoping to get a start on the garden, or get in a game of golf or start opening the cottage for the season.
Maybe you're also looking for a pleasant evening of entertainment in a scenic fishing village that's nearby - why not bring along a tailgate picnic to enjoy somewhere around the Harbour, and then come up to the Fundy View Community Hall and take in the Variety Show hosted and organized by Carroll Edwards. Carroll has developed a great following for his concerts and the line up for this one looks really good.
In addition, to the friendly welcoming ambience, the hall is warmly heated, and the seats are comfy - none of those cold hard steel stacking chairs here! We offer a nice little canteen with hot dogs fried up with all the trimmings, chips, beverages both hot and cold, and as always we have the popular 50/50 draw.
We're looking forward to greeting the regulars and meeting some new folks too - if you need help in finding us, take the 359Highway north out of Kentville and watch for signs after you start to see the Bay ahead of you. A map is in the sidebar and we also put in there the picture of the sign at the bottom of the driveway so you should find us with no trouble - there's ample parking with barrier-free access and the washrooms are also barrier free.
Above is a copy of the poster with this Saturday's line up!We'll see you there!

Lasagna Supper was a huge success!!! Lots happening these days!
We had a wonderful turnout for the Hall's Harbour FundyView community hall Supper yesterday - as always, the food was too good to be true - meaty, cheesy zesty lasagna and a fresh spring green salad with subtle vinaigrette dressing accompanied by homemade bread, followed by a delicious and light dessert of cake with lemon sauce.
Fundy View wishes to thank everyone who helped to make the event such a success. Final figures are not quite tabulated yet, but it appears around $800 was realized to support the hall.
Everyone went home happy after seeing old friends and making some new ones, while enjoying the pleasant ambience the hall offers. The 50/50 draw was well subscribed and was won by Gary Cleveland of Kentville - Gary owns and operates Clevelands Decorating Centre on River Street. The raffle basket filled with lovely goodies was won by Ted Van Tight - Ted and his wife Fabienne are newcomers to Hall's Harbour and Fabienne will be operating The Copper Fox Gallery ( http://copperfoxgallery.com/on Hwy 359, within walking distance of the hall. Welcome to the community, Fabienne and Ted!
The rain - constant rain you could call it - has left a lot of standing water around, and Gerry Dickie has been busy raking and filling depressions and moving gravel with the help of Greg Sanford and his tractor - Greg's help was very much appreciated - thanks so much Greg. It's people like him who in volunteering for jobs like that help us so much! Small communities are run on good will and volunteerism.
In addition to that chore, Gerry added temporary grab bars to the inside and outside doorframe of the new entry to help people who have mobility issues, as there is a temporary wheelchair ramp which can be a bit difficult to negotiate. It will be there until such time as we can access the funding to lower the doorsill to allow for a completely barrier free entrance - that is in the works, and the first step was to replace the old door with a wider one that will make access easier for those in wheelchairs.
The next Board of Directors meeting for Fundy View Community Society will be held on Thursday March 19, 2011 at the Hall - at 7:30.
We have had a very busy month of May - with a variety concert on April 30, a benefit for friend and neighbour Bob Vaughanon May 7, and the supper yesterday.
Next weekend we are looking forward to another variety concert hosted by Carroll Edwards - Carroll's shows are always a big draw and much enjoyed.
Look for the poster and all the details in a day or two right here!
Until then - so long for now!
